“Part is driving. Part is preparation. But the biggest part is luck” – Bill Elliot
The Sound of the Tone
- With a win in buggy I could clinch the points series
- Truck points are close must TQ and win for the most points
- Part of me looks forward to the points being over. Running two vehicles with light entries makes for a busy night!
- Really looking forward to the Masters of Dirt only weeks away!
Practice
Both vehicles felt really good. After a successful weekend last week I didn’t want to change to much. I always like to run a battery back on each to get back into the rhythm of turning laps. And that is just what I did. I find it takes a few runs to get your mind back into the gas and braking points.
Qualifying R1
2wd Mod Stadium Truck (22T 3.0) – The track seemed to grip up sooner than weeks before and my truck was a little on edge. It just had too much steering that I had to be very careful with how much wheel input I gave it.
Tire – JC Gold Dirt Webs (Fronts: High Pin / Rears: High Pin)
Prep – FDJ Pineapple
Post Run Changes – No prep on front tires
2wd Stock Buggy (22 4.0 SR) – Continue to be amazed by how well this car is working. It is just effortless to drive. The changes from last weekends Pumpkin Dash still suited the track and I was able to TQ Round 1. The track was a little damp so I decided to try MC positrons as they seem to have a little more speed than Dirt Webs.
Tire – MC Positrons (Fronts: Med Pin / Rears: Low Pin)
Prep – FDJ Pineapple
Post Run Changes – None
Qualifying R2
2wd Mod Stadium Truck (22T 3.0) – With the track starting to grip up I made a last minute decision to try to run gold compound slicks. This was a bad idea. I had no traction and actually ended up breaking an arm landing a jump short. Horrible qualifier and not what I needed for the points series.
Tire – JC Gold Dirt Webs (Fronts: Slick / Rears: Slick)
Prep – FDJ Pineapple
Post Run Changes – Tires
2wd Stock Buggy (22 4.0 SR) – My buggy was on rails for the second qualifier. I was able to better my TQ and bust off a new hot lap for the night. A pretty uneventful qualifier and night so far with the stock bug.
Tire – Pro-Line MC Positron (Fronts: Med Pin / Rears: Med Pin)
Prep – FDJ Pineapple
Post Run Changes – None
Mains
2wd Mod Stadium Truck (22T 3.0) – With the right tires back on the truck the handling came back around. But unfortunately Dillon’s truck was dialed and all I was going to be was a second place truck unless he made a huge mistake. That didn’t happen and I finished the night P2.

2wd Stock Buggy (22 4.0 SR) – It was total domination tonight. I was able to lead every lap and bring home another win to clinch the point series. This layout has been good to me and my car. I think sometimes you will have that. Really confident about my car and setup heading to the Beach in a couple weeks! Also happy to finally win with my RIP shirt on. I have learned alot from that podcast and it seemed before I was always having bad luck when I wore it!
